About the role
You join a cohort of nine interns building Stage 2 of SiteDay, our field production software for sitework contractors. You own the office web app: a budget forecasting dashboard and a change-order desk, in a production TypeScript monorepo with shared validation schemas. The eight weeks run in three phases: weeks 1 and 2 you learn the codebase and help write the specification, weeks 3 to 6 you build your slice in parallel with the other tracks, and weeks 7 and 8 are integration, release and a demo you run yourself.
What you will learn
- React 18 with Vite and TypeScript in strict mode, inside a pnpm monorepo
- Server state with TanStack Query: caching, invalidation, loading and error states
- Shared Zod schemas that validate the same data in the API and in your forms
- Data-dense tables and charts that stay readable and accessible
- Forms with dynamic line items, currency and multi-step validation
- Playwright end-to-end tests that survive a refactor
What we look for
- Solid HTML, CSS and JavaScript fundamentals
- Some React experience, personal projects count
- Git basics and a GitHub profile with anything you have built
- Clear written English for pull requests and standups
What you would build
The budget vs actual dashboard with forecast-at-completion, the change-order desk, and the public page a contractor's client opens to approve or reject a change order. That last screen is the only part of the product seen by someone who is not a user, and you will build it more than once.
How the 8 weeks run
- Weeks 1 to 2: learn the codebase, read the specification, and ship one small change. The design intern produces the wireframes everyone else builds from
- Weeks 3 to 6: build your slice in parallel with the other eight tracks, reviewed weekly, with a mid-point review in week 4
- Weeks 7 to 8: integration, regression, and a release you demo to the company yourself
- Every week: a written daily standup, a Monday cohort sync, a 30-minute 1:1 with your mentor, and a Friday demo
