Meta has made WhatsApp Business something an AI agent can set up and run, and launched its own agent, Muse, that books and buys on the customer's behalf. If your sales happen on WhatsApp, this changes what you can automate and what your customers will expect.
On 8 September Meta launched Muse, an AI agent that lives inside WhatsApp and acts on the user's behalf: it books tables, orders products, chases deliveries and negotiates on price. It is a consumer product with paid tiers, and it is rolling out now.
On 15 September Meta released a WhatsApp Business MCP server. In plain terms, that lets an AI coding agent set up a WhatsApp Business account, verify the phone number, register for the Cloud API and manage message templates, work that used to take a developer a day of clicking through the Meta dashboard.
Put those together and the direction is clear. WhatsApp is becoming a place where AI agents talk to businesses, and where businesses can run AI agents of their own.
In the UAE and Pakistan, WhatsApp is not a messaging app. It is the sales counter. Restaurants take orders on it, clinics confirm appointments on it, real estate agents send listings on it, and every retailer we work with has a staff member whose job is mostly answering the same twenty questions on WhatsApp all day.
That staff member is the reason this matters. Most of those conversations follow a pattern, and patterns are what automation is for.
These are the four things we are building for clients this quarter, in order of how quickly they pay back.
1. First-response and qualification. A customer messages at 11pm asking about price and availability. Instead of waiting until morning, an agent answers from your actual price list and stock, asks the two questions your sales team always asks, and books a call or hands over to a person in the morning with the conversation summarised. Missed enquiries are the most expensive leak in most small businesses.
2. Order and booking confirmation. For a restaurant, clinic or salon: the agent takes the order or the booking, confirms the slot against your real calendar, sends the confirmation, and sends the reminder the day before. This is where Muse comes in. Increasingly the "customer" sending that message will be an AI agent working for a person, and it will expect a structured answer, not "let me check and get back to you".
3. Status updates without staff. "Where is my order?", "Is my car ready?", "Has the document been processed?". If the answer lives in a system, the agent can read it and reply. If the answer lives in someone's head, that is the first thing to fix, and it is usually a spreadsheet-to-software job.
4. Payment and follow-up. Sending the invoice, the payment link, the receipt, and the polite chase a week later. Boring, reliable, and the part that most often gets forgotten when the team is busy.
| What | Fixed price (USD) | Approx. AED | Approx. PKR | Time |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| WhatsApp Business setup, verified number, templates approved | $300 | AED 1,100 | PKR 84,000 | 1 week |
| One automated flow (enquiries, or bookings, or order status) connected to your existing data | $600 to $1,500 | AED 2,200 to 5,500 | PKR 170,000 to 420,000 | 2 to 3 weeks |
| Full assistant: all four flows, human hand-off, dashboard of conversations | $2,500 to $5,000 | AED 9,200 to 18,400 | PKR 700,000 to 1.4m | 4 to 6 weeks |
Plus Meta's per-conversation fees, which for a typical small business come to a few dollars a month, and hosting from $20 a month.
An agent that pretends to be a person. Customers in this region are quick to notice and slow to forgive. Every assistant we build says it is an assistant, and a person can be reached with one message. We also will not connect an agent to your systems without the guardrails in our five rules for AI agents.
Count the WhatsApp messages your team answered last week and sort them into the four groups above. Whichever group is biggest is your first flow. If you are not sure, send us a screenshot of a typical day's chat and we will tell you within 48 hours what to automate first and what it will cost.

We build the systems described in this article. Let’s talk about your project.
