Pakistan's tech exports crossed $4.6 billion this year and the country sent nearly a thousand delegates to LEAP in Riyadh. Here is the honest case for hiring a software team in Lahore from a company headquartered there, including the parts that go wrong.
Pakistan's ICT exports reached $4.6 billion in the financial year that ended in June 2026, up sharply again on the year before. At LEAP 2026 in Riyadh, the region's largest technology event, Pakistan sent close to a thousand delegates under the banner "Think Tech, Think Pakistan". The sector's own reporting shows the mix shifting from pure outsourcing toward product companies, with fintech and business software leading.
Behind those figures is a simple fact for anyone buying software in Dubai, Manchester or Riyadh: a large, English-speaking, increasingly product-minded engineering workforce sits two to five hours from your time zone at a fraction of local cost.
We are headquartered in Lahore and work remote-first with clients in the UAE, the UK and Pakistan, so we have a view on this, and an interest. We will try to be straight about both.
Cost, honestly stated. A custom business application that would be quoted at $25,000 to $40,000 by an agency in Dubai or London is typically $6,000 to $15,000 with us, for the same scope and a fixed price. That is not because the work is worse. It is because the cost of living, office space and salaries in Lahore are a fraction of those cities, and because we do not have a sales team to feed.
Time zone. Lahore is one hour ahead of Dubai and four to five hours ahead of London. A UAE client has a full overlapping working day. A UK client has the morning and early afternoon, which is enough for daily contact and means work done in Lahore's afternoon is waiting when London wakes up. Compare that with teams in the Americas or East Asia, where the overlap is an hour or none.
Language and culture. English is the language of Pakistani higher education and business. Written communication, which is most of what a software project runs on, is not a barrier. And a large share of Lahore's engineers have worked for Gulf clients before or have family in the UAE, so the business context is familiar.
Depth of talent. Lahore alone has several large engineering universities producing thousands of graduates a year, and a decade of outsourcing has built a bench of senior engineers who have shipped for international clients. The best of them now stay because the product companies pay well, which is the shift the export figures show.
We would be lying if we said every offshore project succeeds. The failures follow a pattern, and none of it is about geography.
Hourly billing with no scope. The project drifts, the hours mount, and neither side can say when it is done. Insist on a written scope and a fixed price before any deposit. That is how we work, and it is the single biggest protection.
No single accountable person. You are emailing a company inbox and getting a different developer each time. Ask who your project lead is and whether you can speak to them directly.
Silence between milestones. Weeks pass with no visible progress. Ask for a weekly update with a link to something you can click, from the first week.
The "we can build anything" answer. A team that never pushes back on a bad idea is not thinking about your business. When we tell a third of the businesses who ask us for an ERP to buy Zoho instead, that is the kind of pushback you want.
Legal comfort. Contracts under UAE or UK law are normal for us and for most established Pakistani firms. Ask for it. Also ask where your code lives and confirm in writing that you own it.
A discovery call. A written scope with screens and one price within 48 hours. A deposit and a start date. A weekly demo. Delivery, training, and 30 days of support, then an optional maintenance plan. The client talks to the same lead throughout, on their own working hours, and owns everything at the end.
That is what we do for every project, from a business website at $500 to a custom ERP at $1,500 and up. Read about how we work with UAE and UK clients, meet the team on the about page, or book a free call and judge for yourself.
We build the systems described in this article. Let’s talk about your project.
